WINDOWS™ PRINTER DRIVER
The Datamax S-Class ticket printers include a Microsoft® Windows™ printer driver developed for Datamax by Seagull
Scientific, a premier developer of Windows printer drivers for thermal RFID label, tag, and ticket printers. Using the
Windows printer driver allows the S-Class to be used with a wide variety of application software designed to take
advantage of Windows printer management.
Because the S-Class can operate using one of two printer languages (DPL or DTPL), the Windows printer
driver only works with the printer when the printer is in DPL mode. In other words, the Datamax/Seagull
Windows printer driver does not work with the S-Class when the S-Class is in DTPL (FGL/Boca emulation)
The Windows printer driver can be used to manipulate a variety of S-Class printer settings, including:
o Print speed
o Print test page/ticket
o Ticket size and orientation
o Print printer configuration information
o Send print files to printer
o Send firmware update files to printer
o Configure memory usage
o Enable/disable the cutter mechanism
o Host communications port selection
The Windows printer driver supports each of the S-Class communication ports: parallel, serial, and USB

The Datamax Printer Configuration Utility, known as DMXConfig, is a free utility included with all Datamax printers that
allows the operator to adjust and save the printer’s internal settings via PC based software instead of using the
printer’s control panel.
Using a bi-directional printer communication port DMXConfig can query the printer for its current
configuration, and display it to the operator for modification.
Configurations can be saved and sent to other printers of the same model.
Factory default configurations can be opened, modified, and then sent to printers that are not connected
using bi-directional printer communications ports.
DPL printer commands can be sent to the printer for diagnostic purposes
